Seniors club meals

Each Wednesday, our local Senior Citizens enjoy a delicious, nutritious three course luncheon prepared by volunteers from the Rushworth Community House. While this valuable service is both enjoyed and appreciated by the Seniors, the Community House is finding it very difficult to secure enough volunteers to participate in the weekly catering effort.

Unless more volunteers can be found to help with the meals, RCH runs the risk of failing to meet its food service delivery obligations. Should that occur, the future of the meals being provided by the friendly folks from the Community House could be seriously jeopardised.

This is a great opportunity to donate a little of your time to help a genuinely worthy group of people enrich their lives through good food in a convivial setting. Your commitment can be large or relatively small - every little bit helps; new volunteers could expect to be rostered about once per month.

Please consider joining our roster to assist with the buying, preparing and/or cooking of the Senior Citizens’ meals. Your help would be greatly appreciated and any training will be provided.

Please contact the Community House on 58561295 if you, a family member or a friend can help us to continue helping our esteemed Seniors.

Hospitality course opportunity

We are proposing to change Wednesday start times for our Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) course.

Wednesday sessions currently begin at 4pm, creating some difficult for anyone with family transport commitments around that time. Please let us know if you would prefer us to run the classes earlier on Wednesdays (perhaps 10.30am – 2.30pm), allowing parents to pick up their youngsters after school.

This course is great fun, gives you valuable skills and earns you both Food Handlers and Supervisors Certificates. What’s more, we have a great tutor!

If the altered time would assist you, please contact the Community House on 58261295.

Pilates places available

Pilates sessions will commence on April 24 at 1pm, but only if we have enough people.

True Pilates is a great way to gain fitness and enhance your general sense of well-being. So if you feel that you could feel better than you currently feel, feel free to phone us, reserve a place and feel better in next to no time.

Business and IT Combo

Update your skills and make yourself more employable in today’s modern office and systems-based environment.

This new, innovative Community House program will give you some of the key skills needed to work in a Business setting generally, or in the arena of Information Technology specifically.

Course units are taken from Certificate III in Business and Certificate III in Information Technology, and completed units can lead on to a formal qualification if so desired.

Phone RCH for details.

Autumn Nights proves popular

With a maximum of only eight people per session, our Autumn Nights at Rushworth Observatory on May 8 and 9 are nearly booked out.

Only a few places remain for these popular evenings, which kick off from the Community House at around 7pm, convoy to the Observatory, and finish up at about 10pm.

Weather permitting, Saturn’s glorious rings will be clearly visible through the Observatory’s large telescope, a last opportunity for the public to see this spectacular sight until 2010. Next year, Saturn’s rings will be edge-on to Earth, rendering them invisible in all but the world’s largest telescopes.

Many other stellar wonders will be visible, so call the House to reserve a place – you won’t regret it.
