SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY AND PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR PEOPLE TO REACH THEIR POTENTIAL

Text Box: Wow - what a way to tickle a Queen’s fancy!

Queens Birthday 2008 at Rushworth Community House set the entertainment standard against which future celebrations of the monarch’s naissance will be compared, with more grins, giggles and guffaws per minute than at almost any previous RCH event.

As mentioned in the last Rushy Whroomer, subscriptions for 2008/2009 became due immediately after our Annual General Meeting in March, and - regrettably - a number of annual subscriptions have now expired.

Poppy Doyle stunned the evening’s assembled diners when he suddenly appeared in full royal regalia, complete with lipstick, handbag, stole, pearls and tiara.

He was accompanied by a pipe-smoking Bernie Halpin (aka Fill the Geek), dressed to kill in beret and specs, and exuding a demeanor consistent with that of the real prince-consort.

A scrumptious smorgasbord dinner  signaled the start of  the evening’s festivities, and the guests obviously relished one-another’s culinary skills.

The great “lady” bestowed a number of awards to trivia quiz participants who demonstrated superior monarchic awareness.

Chocolate Royals were presented to Heather Wellington (what a curtsy!), Jane Bower, Tony Crosbie, Yvonne Aburrow, Sandy Ashton,  and Mike Wellington.

Cass Alexander was elevated to the Order of the Garter, and Yvonne and House Co-Manager Debbie Bish were made Great Dames.

If QB 2009 is to outdo  QB 2008, then expect the  unexpected!

Membership of the House enables people to participate in AGMs with full voting rights, enjoy special events at the House, receive quarterly copies of the Rushy Whroomer and receive discounts on some RTC services, so the small five dollar annual fee represents truly outstanding value for money.

If you do not intend to renew your membership, please call the House on 5856- 1295 so that your name can be taken off the membership database.

However, if you’d like to remain a valued member of your local Community House, please call in during opening hours and renew your membership.

Alternatively, fill in the membership application form on page four of this edition of the Whroomer and post it - together with your five dollar subscription fee - to Rushworth Community House at Post Office Box 201, Rushworth, 3612.
