Community House in retrospect

This time last year, we wrote:

“In the life of an organisation as diverse as Rushworth Community House, the golden rule is simple - expect the unexpected!”

We’re delighted to report that twelve months on, nothing has changed. 2009 was the year that students from Rushworth P-12 College became RCH tutors, guiding some local seniors through the intricacies of mobile phone menus.

Rushworth Community House is a regional focus for artistic training and expression, with twice-weekly Art classes, regular Patchwork sessions and special Art Workshops like the one shown above.

Centrelink access times over summer holidays

RCH will be closed to the public between Thursday, 24 December and Friday 1 January inclusive.

No Community House services - including our Centrelink Access Point - will be available between those dates.

We will open between 10 am and 12 noon either side of the Christmas / New Year break.

Centrelink services such as Form Lodgement and ID Document Verifcation are available whenever the House is open.

However, anyone requiring Passport or other types of Identifcation photographs should ring the House to book a session time.

Australia Day arrangements

RCH will be closed on 26 January, Australia Day, and no Community House services will be available on that day.

The House will only open between 10am and 12 noon on Monday, 25 January, to allow our staff and volunteers to complete organisational arrangements for Rushworth’s Australia Day festivities.

The Shire Hall in High Street will be the venue for the 2010 Australia Day activities, which will include the traditional sausage sizzle run by the Rushworth and District Lions Club starting at 5pm, a concert featuring a wide variety of local talent that starts at 6pm, and the presentation ceremony for Rushworth’s Australia Day awards that should get underway around 7.30pm.

Our Australia Day Ambassador Phil Huzzard and P-12 students Georgia Horsley and Jake Thompson will be among the speakers at this popular annual event. Everyone is invited, and you’re guaranteed of a truly memorable evening.
